bartlett mitchell, one of the UK’s leading independent caterers, has announced a hat-trick of internal promotions within its coffee team.
Laura Floyd, the inaugural bartlett mitchell Barista Champion (BMBC) in 2017 has been appointed senior support barista for the business from her most recent position as head barista at one of the company’s group contracts.
In her new role, Laura is tasked with maintaining the caterer’s coffee brand and service standards by auditing and supporting sites in the Home Counties, South, and West regions. She will also assist in training new starters.
Christopher Hughes and Petra Camara have also been promoted to further cement bartlett mitchell’s commitment to recognising and developing talent from within the business.
Previously a cafe supervisor in a school in Kent, Christopher was promoted to support barista after his development potential was identified during BMBC 2018.
His new position sees him cover and support baristas across the company’s London contracts while at the same time being developed to assume a more senior position and take over auditing and support of the caterer’s contract sites in the north.
Petra, who placed second to Laura in BMBC 2017, has been appointed development barista.
Previously head barista at a contract in Paddington, Petra’s new role sees her support deputy brand manager Theo Pearson and offer brand support for Perkee, the company’s ethical and sustainable coffee brand.
She will also audit and support the company’s central London-based contracts, support new business after mobilisation, and deliver training.
Laura, Christopher and Petra will report to coffee brand manager Miguel Camara, who said: “The internal development and promotions of these talented and committed individuals is testament to the value bartlett mitchell places its barista operations and the growth of the Perkee coffee brand.
“This enables us to continue our good work, maintain consistency across the BM estate and at the same time offer growth and opportunities to our teams.”
